LifeShield Home Security is the world's first all-digital home security system headquartered in Yardley, Pennsylvania. In 2004, Louis Stilp, a technology visionary, inventor and entrepreneur was trying to find a good home security system for his family. After he realized that his only options were expensive, hard-wired security systems, he set out to develop a better alternative. The result was InGrid Home Security. Stilp continued to refine his wireless security system with 20 industry patents and countless innovations, and in 2010, the company's name was changed to LifeShield Security.
Today, LifeShield is protecting homes in all 50 states and continues to refine its products and services. LifeShield's home security system provides an affordable and fully mobile option for monitoring and securing homes, restaurants, businesses, renters, apartments, vacation homes, elder parent homes, mobile homes, and even young adults living in college dorms.
An interview with Louis Stilp…
I have been working in wireless technology sector for more than 29 years, basically my entire career. Prior to my work with LifeShield, I founded TruePosition, the first and largest company in the wireless location market, involving the location of cellular phones for E911 and commercial applications.
As with any company that ultimately depends on its technology to exist, it is the need for continuous and virulent patent protection. Our product and company's livelihood depends on it.
The particular legal issue involved a need for a motion to transfer venue in a case that was filed against LifeShield earlier this year. Since the original complaint was filed in San Diego, California, and both parties are located on the East Coast, our IP counsel needed to partner with a firm in San Diego County to assist with filing and arguing the motion to change the jurisdiction back to Pennsylvania. After doing some research, our IP counsel selected Sullivan Hill, and more specifically, Jeff Lewin.
Because I've always been a hands-on COO, I worked very closely with our IP counsel and Jeff on this matter. Jeff is smart and knowledgeable. I found his insight extremely helpful on all levels. And best of all, we had a successful outcome on our motion.
I enjoyed working with Jeff and would definitely work with him again in the future should the need arise.
